FYI - Client syncing and making changes to FYI client links

How to sync your FYI clients on demand, override a link to an FYI client, or remove a client link.

If Socket is connected to FYI, client contact details including email addresses are managed by FYI, not Socket. Changes should be made directly in FYI and will sync through to Socket automatically, usually within a few minutes. You cannot edit these details in Socket while the FYI link is active.

This guide explains how users of the FYI integration can manually sync clients and contacts, and how to manage or correct client links between Socket and FYI.

It covers:

  • Syncing clients with FYI on demand.

  • Overriding an incorrectly linked FYI client or entity.

  • Removing an FYI client link.

Where to Find Sync Options

On the client record screen, you’ll see a link to that client in FYI, from the External Links dropdown.

Click the pencil icon to edit the client link.

Sync on Demand – Update Clients from FYI

In most cases, syncing happens automatically overnight. However, you can manually trigger a sync if something looks out of date or incorrect.

Override the Linked FYI Client or Entity

If a client has been linked to the wrong FYI entity, you can manually override the link. This immediately updates the connection and ensures future syncs use the correct FYI record.

How to Override a Link

  1. Click to edit the client FYI link from 'External Links' on the client page (see above).

  2. Click the drop down under 'Customer'.

  3. Select the correct FYI client or entity.

Remove a Client Link

If a client should no longer be linked to FYI, you can remove the link entirely.

How to Remove a Link

  1. Click to edit the client FYI link from 'External Links' on the client page (see above).

  2. Choose Remove Link.

  3. Confirm the action.

Once removed:

  • The client is no longer connected to FYI.

  • Syncing will stop for that client.

  • You can relink the client later if needed.

If a client in FYI has a contact record attached, Socket will use the contact's email address rather than the client's own email. If a client's email address is not pulling through into Socket, check whether the FYI client has a contact record that may be missing an email address. Adding the email to the contact in FYI will resolve this.
