Connect Karbon with Socket to sync your People and Organisation records into Socket and sync new Prospects from Socket into Karbon.
Follow the steps or watch the video guide to get going👇
Step 1: Connecting Karbon to Socket
To get started, go to Practice Settings in Socket and then navigate to Integrations. Here, you’ll find the option to connect Karbon. Clicking this will prompt you to enter an access key and an optional tenant key.
Getting Your Access Key from Karbon
To find your access key, open Karbon and go to Settings, then Connected Apps. Locate Socket in the list and click Connect. This will take you to a dedicated Socket Connection page within Karbon, where you’ll see a token. This is your access key. Click on the 'Copy to clipboard' button and then head back to Socket and paste it in the Karbon Access Key box.
Understanding the Tenant Key
The tenant key is optional but allows for deep linking, which means you can directly open a specific client or contact in Karbon from within Socket. You can find your tenant key in the URL of Karbon. It appears between the main Karbon domain and the following forward slash. Copy this code, without the hash symbol and enter it in the Karbon Tenant Key box in Socket.
Syncing Clients and Contacts
Once you have entered the access key and tenant key, click Save in Socket. This triggers the sync process, where Socket fetches your clients and contacts from Karbon. If you have thousands of records, this process may take a few minutes, but you can leave the page and return later. For most users, syncing takes just a few seconds. When the process is complete, Karbon will display as connected in Socket.
Step 2: Mapping Contact Types (Optional)
After syncing, you will see a message indicating that Karbon is connected. There is an optional step where you can 'Map Contact Types'.
If you do use Contact Types within Karbon, then we recommend mapping these to Socket as it will help ensure the correct data is pushed between the systems. Just click into the box on each row, against each Socket entity and pick the relevant Karbon field.
For example, if a Prospect is entered in Socket, and it’s a limited company or an individual, and you want this to also been shown as a Prospect in Karbon, then pick this in the row and the system will automatically map this in Karbon.
Step 3: Managing Clients in Socket
Once Karbon is connected, clients will only appear in Socket when required. If you navigate to the Clients section and see “No clients found,” this is normal. Clients are imported on demand, meaning you’ll only see them appear for selection when you create a new Proposal.
Navigate to Start a New Proposal in Socket.
Choose an existing client from the list. The data for People and Organisations from Karbon will appear, with icons distinguishing between individuals and companies.
When you select a client, the system will automatically recognise details like whether it’s a limited company. You can adjust these details within Socket as needed. The contacts associated with the client will also be imported from Karbon.
Your Karbon integration is now fully set up. Clients will sync on demand, and your data will stay updated.
