Follow the step-by-step guide or watch the video to connect your FYI account to Socket and start syncing your client records.

Step 1: Configure the Integration in Socket

  • In Socket, go to Practice Settings

  • Click on the Integrations tab

  • Find FYI in the list

You may need to toggle the 'Show All Integrations Tab' to see FYI.

Step 2: Connect to FYI

  • Click Connect to FYI

  • Enter your FYI login credentials (see below)

Step 3: FYI Credentials

The login credentials you'll need are 2 FYI fields:

  • Application Key: This is the shorter key provided by FYI.

  • Application Secret Key: The longer key provided by FYI.

To find these, login to your FYI account and then click on Automation > Apps.

Search for Socket and click on the Settings icon from there,

Note: If you don’t see the cog next to Socket, it’s because we are still in BETA. To get access, please reach out to [email protected] to have it enabled. Let us know if you need any assistance.

On your screen, you will now be able to see the Client ID and Secret Key.

Make sure to save these credentials into a safe space as the Access Secret Key will only be displayed once.

If you lose your credentials you will have to acquire new ones.

Step 4: Configuring the API key in Socket

In Socket, head back to Practice Settings > Integrations > Enter the API credentials provided by FYI.

Once saved, the sync will begin automatically.

Note: The sync time depends on the number of clients in your practice. If you have a large client base, this might take a few minute - perfect time to grab a coffee ☕

You’ll see a confirmation message once the initial setup is complete.

Step 5: Verify the Integration

  • Head over to the Clients section in Socket

  • Click into a Client that is linked to FYI

  • Under External Links, you should now see a link to that client in FYI

Clicking the link will open the corresponding client record in FYI.

⚠️ Note: Entity types (e.g. Limited Company, Sole Trader) are not automatically updated during the initial sync. You may see differences between Socket and FYI at this stage.
