To keep your client data aligned across FYI and Socket, you can configure Entity Type Mappings - ensuring the correct 'Business Structure' in FYI is mapped with the relevant 'Entity Type' in Socket.

Prerequisite

You'll need to Set up the Socket & FYI integration first, head here to check out the guide. - to add link once published

Watch the video or the below step-by-step guide on how to configure your entity types.

Step 1: Entity Type Configuration

  • In Socket, go to Practice Settings

  • Click on the FYI integration section

  • Click Configure Entity Types

This opens a separate window where you’ll see:

  • A list of Socket entity types (e.g. Individual, Partnership, Limited Company, Sole Trader) on the left

  • A dropdown next to each one, where you can select the corresponding FYI business structures(s)

In each box under the FYI mapping column you can either:

  • Choose from the FYI structures automatically pulled in during sync

  • Or manually type and add any new custom FYI structures

These mappings ensure clients are categorised correctly when syncing from Socket to FYI - especially if you use custom structures in FYI.

Step 2: Preview the Mappings

Before saving, you can preview what will happen.

For example, if:

A client named “All Jobs Ltd” is marked as a Limited Company in Socket, but its 'Business Structure' in FYI is set to Self Assessment, and you would like this company to have an Individual entity type in Socket.

or

A client named "Tetris Ltd” is marked as a Limited Company in Socket, but its 'Business Structure' in FYI is set to Business Partnership, and you would like this company to have a Partnership entity type in Socket.

You will want to correct these by mapping:

  • Individual in Socket ➝ Self Assessment in FYI

  • Partnership in Socket ➝ Business Partnership in FYI

Step 3: Confirm and Sync

  • Once your mappings are set, click Confirm

  • Socket will begin updating client records to reflect the new mappings

Note: This may take a few minutes depending on how many clients you have. Grab a coffee while it works its magic ☕

Step 4: Check Updated Records

Once the sync has completed, check the results by heading to your Clients section in Socket.

You’ll now see updated entity types based on your FYI mappings.
