Clients can enter Socket through different routes, including:

Manually – via bulk import or during proposal creation.

CRM Integration – syncing clients from your connected CRM.

The actions available will depend on how the client has been added to Socket.

Adding Clients via Bulk import

To import multiple clients together, use our import functionality. From the Client page, click the 'Import' button on the top right hand side.

Click 'Download Template' to populate it with the client information The import template requires just Client Name and Entity Type, all other fields are optional.

Entity type can be any of: Limited Company, Individual, Sole Trader, Partnership, Limited Liability Partnership, Incorporated Charity, Unincorporated Charity, Trust, Club or Society, Not for Profit, Other.

If you save the file as a Google Sheet, a dropdown list will appear with these options. Just remember to save it as a CSV or XLSX before importing.

Click ‘Select File’ to upload your completed import file, and the import process will begin. If there’s an error, you’ll be notified of the issue and the affected row.

If no error appears, refresh the page to see your newly imported clients.

Adding Clients during Proposal Creation

Adding client on page 1 of creating a proposal, is a quick way to add a new client on the fly.

Go to 'Home' and click on +New Proposal.

You can either type in the name of the new client manually or, if they are registered with Companies House, use the Companies House lookup to retrieve key details.

This will return information such as:

• Director details

• Year-end date

• Company number

• Incorporation date

• Confirmation statement due date

• Next accounts due date

• Registered office address

To use this feature, select ‘Yes’ to reveal the Companies House lookup search box.

Editing Manually Added Clients

From the Client list, click on the client to display their details. Then click on the 3 dots and 'Edit Details'.

This will allow you to edit all of the below fields.

However, if the client is created using the Companies House lookup, the Year End date will be blanked out. You can view this by clicking on External Links.
