How to collect client data for Price Monitoring: Driver Metric Monitor

How to source client volumes data in your tools like Dext and Xenon Connect, for importing into Price Monitoring to make sure pricing reflects client usage.

Driver Metric Monitor allows you to monitor client volumes to make sure their pricing still reflects their usage.

Before Socket can flag pricing discrepancies in client volumes, it needs to know what your clients' current metrics look like. This guide walks through how to collect this data from the tools you already use.

You can monitor the following client data in Driver Metric Monitor. These are commonly used drivers in Pricing menu set-ups. These are:

  • Bank Statement Lines: Commonly available with Xero, QuickBooks Online, Xenon Connect

  • Bills: Commonly available Xero, QuickBooks Online, Dext Precision

  • Employees: Commonly available with BrightPay, Xero (Payroll), QuickBooks Online (Payroll)

  • Invoices: Commonly available with Xero, QuickBooks Online, Dext Precision, Xenon Connect

  • Annual Revenue: Commonly available with Xero, QuickBooks Online, Xenon Connect

  • Transactions: Commonly available with Xero, QuickBooks Online, Dext Precision, Xenon Connect

You may hold these client details across multiple systems, and you’ll need to identify which tools hold the data you want to monitor.

Check out our additional guidance below on finding data in Xero, Dext, and Xenon Connect. Once you know what data you want to monitor and where you source is, export the data to generate your custom CSV import.

Generating your custom CSV Import Template

To generate a CSV import template that is pre-populated with the clients you want to monitor and with the correct columns for the data you want to import, configure your Driver Metrics Monitor settings.

To do this, select the metrics you want to monitor and map them to the correct services and drivers within your pricing menu, this guide explains more.

The CSV template is generated based on the metrics and services you select. Socket will find clients associated to the mapped services and drivers, and pre-fill the template with these client names.

You can add data from multiple vendors into the template, which gives you a complete picture across price drivers and allows you to make one adjustment.

If you need to adjust the template to include additional clients or metrics, all you need to do is edit the settings with any changes to metrics or services/drivers, and download the new version of the template.

⚠️ The template will only include active clients already mapped to the relevant services and drivers. If a client is missing from the Client Name column we suggest checking which services are within in their proposal.

How to add data to the Socket generated template

Use the data exported from your other tools to fill in the columns in the spreadsheet.

CSV import Formatting requirements

  • Enter whole numbers for all cells in the data columns

  • You can leave cells blank if no data is required, Socket will only monitor services associated to the client.

Omitting clients from the CSV import

Omit any clients you do not want to include in the search. Delete these CSV rows completely. You might want to omit a client if:

  • You've just completed a renewal or repricing for them and don't need to review them again yet

  • You have an agreed fixed-price arrangement with that client that isn't tied to usage metrics

  • The client is mid-onboarding and their data isn't settled enough to be meaningful

  • You've recently increased their fees and want to wait before reviewing again

  • The client is churning or has given notice

Not sure whether to include a client? You can always exclude the results later if a pricing change is not actionable right now.

Uploading the Completed Spreadsheet

  1. Return to Driver Monitoring

  2. Click Upload Driver Report

  3. Choose your updated CSV

  4. Click 'Upload'

Matching Clients

If any clients from the export don't match their client names in Socket you’ll need to manually map them after the export.
