What are Pricing Menus and how do they work?

Pricing Menus are a structured way of managing updates and additions to your Services & Pricing. This allows you to collaborate on changes with your team and stage changes to go live at a particular date in the future.

In order to navigate to the Pricing Menus, head to the “Services & Pricing” section on the left hand side bar. This will be familiar for those already using the existing Pricing & Services functionality.

Navigating to Pricing Menus

When you click on “Services & Pricing” in the updated system, you’ll be directed to a new page that lists your pricing menus. For those of your with existing pricing, Socket will automatically create a Pricing Menu using your existing pricing, and you then create new menus for future dates.

Managing Pricing Menus

Clicking into an existing menu reveals various sections containing your services. Each service can be expanded to display any price drivers, base prices, whether the service is a monthly recurring one or if it allows a custom process.

A current or finalised Pricing Menu is read-only and so you'll need to create new ones if any changes are needed to your current pricing.

Creating and Cloning Pricing Menus

To roll out new pricing for future proposals, click the “New Menu” button. You can chose to clone an existing Pricing Menu or start from scratch.

For example, cloning an existing menu and then selecting "Future Month" and picking September 2024 means this pricing will take effect from 1st September 2024. Any proposals starting within the time frame that your new Pricing Menu cover, will use this newly created Pricing Menu. Alternatively picking "Current Month" will ensure it takes effect when it has been published.

Editing and Publishing Pricing Menus

When the status of the Pricing Menu is draft, you can make edits, you can publish it, or you can delete it. These actions are available from the Pricing Menu list.

To make changes, click on the Pricing Menu and it will take through to make any adjustments to the services as needed.

Once changes have been made navigate back out to the Services & Pricing list view, click on the 3 dots on the right hand side of your draft Pricing Menu and hit "Publish Pricing Menu". This then changes the status to "Finalised" and will be ready to take effect from the specified date.

Applying Pricing Menus to Proposals

To see the new pricing in action, create a new proposal and select the start date corresponding to the Pricing Menu. If you set the Pricing Menu to start in September and create a proposal with a planned start date of September then it will use the new pricing. If you select the proposal planned start date of August, then the old pricing will be used.
