Connect Karbon with Socket to sync your People and Organisation records into Socket and sync new Prospects from Socket into Karbon.
Follow the steps or watch the video guide to get going👇
Step 1: Requesting an API key from Karbon
Firstly, you’ll need to apply for an API key from the Karbon team to integrate with Socket. Contact us via the help button in the app or on our website, and we’ll send you the link and instructions.
The guide will direct you to the appropriate page to request the API key. Once the Karbon team provides you with the key, you’re all ready to set up the integration.
Step 2: Configuring the API key in Socket
In Socket, head to Practice Settings > Integrations > Configure Karbon API Credentials. Here, you will see the below screen where you can enter the API credentials provided by Karbon.
There are 3 Karbon fields to fill out:
Application Key: This is the shorter key provided by Karbon.
Secret Key: The longer key provided by Karbon.
Tenant Key: This is part of the URL in your Karbon account. To find it, copy any URL from your Karbon instance and extract the tenant key from it. Ie, the web address you have pasted is: www.app2.karbonhq.com/ 👉 this_is_your_tenant_key 👈/contacts
The tenant key is not essential but allows for deep linking to client records in Karbon from Socket.
Once you’ve entered all the required keys, click Save. Socket will then sync with Karbon, bringing across your People and Organisation records. Depending on the volume of data, this might take up to 20-30 seconds.
Step 3: Mapping Contact Types (Optional)
After syncing, you will see a message indicating that Karbon is connected. There is an optional step where you can 'Map Contact Types'.
If you do use Contact Types within Karbon, then we recommend mapping these to Socket as it will help ensure the correct data is pushed between the systems. Just click into the box on each row, against each Socket entity and pick the relevant Karbon field.
For example, if a Prospect is entered in Socket, and it’s a limited company or an individual, and you want this to also been shown as a Prospect in Karbon, then pick this in the row and the system will automatically map this in Karbon.
Step 4: Managing Clients in Socket
Once Karbon is connected, clients will only appear in Socket when required. If you navigate to the Clients section and see “No clients found,” this is normal. Clients are imported on demand and you’ll see them appear for selection when you create a new Proposal.
Navigate to Start a New Proposal in Socket.
Choose an existing client from the list. The data for People and Organisations from Karbon will appear, with icons distinguishing between individuals and companies.
When you select a client, the system will automatically recognise details like whether it’s a limited company. You can adjust these details within Socket as needed. The contacts associated with the client will also be imported from Karbon.
