Overview

Merging clients in Socket allows you to combine duplicate client records into a single, primary client. When clients are merged, all information is brought into one client record to keep everything in one place. This is useful if duplicates have been created manually, through a CRM sync, or if a client name was entered incorrectly and needs consolidating.

โš ๏ธ Before You Start

  • Client merges are permanent and cannot be undone.

  • The client record you start from will become the primary client.

  • All proposals and client information from the other client will be merged into this primary client.

  • Closed clients can also be merged.

How to Merge Clients

Step 1: Open the Primary Client Record

Navigate to the client you want to keep as the main record. This client will become the primary client once the merge is complete.

Step 2: Open the Merge Clients Option

Within the client record, click the three dots menu in the top right. Then Select 'Merge Clients'.

Step 3: Select the Client to Merge

Choose the client record you want to merge into the primary client. This can be an active or closed client.

Step 4: Confirm the Merge

Review the details carefully and then confirm the merge to proceed.

Once confirmed:

  • All proposals and client information are moved into the primary client.

  • The secondary client record is permanently removed.

What Happens During a Merge

  • All proposals and related client data are consolidated into the primary client.

  • The duplicate client record is deleted.

  • The merge cannot be reversed.

Common Use Cases

  • Removing duplicate clients created by mistake.

  • Consolidating CRM-synced duplicates.

  • Correcting client records where naming or setup was incorrect.
