When sending a proposal to a potential client, you might want to offer them a choice of services or upsell additional ones. With Options in Socket, you can do both.
You can also combine Options with Proposal Templates to speed up the proposal creation process.
Because our proposals are sent via a link, rather than a PDF, this gives the recipient the ability to select their preferred option and sign the proposal, without needing any back and forth to adjust the proposal.
See the Loom video below or follow the guide on how to get started using Proposal Options.
First, go to Home, then Proposals, and click +New to start a new proposal.
When you get to the Services page of the Proposal, look at the left-hand menu bar and you’ll see an option to ‘Add New Option’. Click on it to view the choices below.
Using Options with Pricing Templates
Start here to bring in services and pricing from any existing pricing templates you’ve created and add them as an option in the proposal.
In the example below, we’re adding a Pricing Template called ‘Silver.’ This automatically pulls in the services from that template, so you don’t need to select them manually - they’ll appear exactly as they are in your saved template.
If you need to update any of the drivers for this proposal, you can do that here.
See our guide on Proposal Templates to learn more.
Using Options with your Existing Selection
If you’ve already selected a few services in your proposal, you can turn them into an option by choosing Existing Selection.
You’ll also have the chance to give it a name in the first few boxes.
Since you’re giving your potential client a choice, you’ll need more than one option.
In the bottom two boxes, you can name this second option. We’ll then apply the same services from your Existing Selection to it.
Using Options from Scratch
Use this if you want to create your options from scratch. If they don’t relate to any of your pricing templates or you need a bespoke option, this is the best choice.
Settings
Once you have created your options, you can chose to add a 'recommended' banner to the option that might be best suited.
Using Options for tiered pricing (Bronze, Silver, Gold)
Options are the simplest way to offer tiered pricing in Socket. Rather than sending separate proposals for each package, you can present all three tiers in a single proposal and let the client choose.
The quickest way to set this up is with Pricing Templates. If you've already saved your Bronze, Silver, and Gold packages as templates, you can pull each one in as an option in a couple of clicks. Each tier gets its own name, its own set of services, and its own price, all in one proposal.
To build a tiered proposal:
Start a new proposal and go to the Services page.
Click Add New Option and choose Pricing Template, then select your Bronze package.
Repeat for Silver and Gold, adding a new option for each.
In Settings, you can mark one tier as Recommended, which highlights it to the client.
The client sees all three options side by side, picks the one that suits them, and signs, all without any back and forth.
If you haven't set up Pricing Templates yet, see the Creating Pricing Templates article to get them in place first.
