Socket raises a notification when something needs your attention: a billing plan ready to approve, an integration that has lost its connection, a client email address that has been blocked, a form response coming in.
Notifications appear in Socket for the people involved. You can also nominate additional email addresses to be copied in on practice events, covered at the end of this article.
The Notifications page
Select the bell in the top bar to open your notifications. A count on the bell shows how many are unread.
For you and For the practice
Notifications are split into two columns, each with its own count.
For you: notifications raised because of your own involvement, such as a lead assigned to you, or a proposal you own.
For the practice: notifications that concern the practice rather than one person, such as a billing plan needing review.
Reading a notification
Each notification shows an icon indicating its severity, a heading, the detail, and how long ago it was raised.
Unread notifications carry a blue dot on the right. Read ones do not.
The icon on the left indicates how urgent it is, from a green tick for something resolved, through information and warning, to red for something that needs attention.
Acting on a notification
Where there is somewhere to go, the notification carries a button taking you straight there, such as Open client or Review plan. The three dots on any notification hold its other options.
Finding a notification
Three filters sit across the top:
Unread, Read, and All, each showing a count.
Severity, to show one level at a time.
Search, for text within the notifications themselves.
Filters apply to both columns at once, so a column with nothing matching reads "No notifications match your filters." Clear Filters resets them.
Marking notifications as read
Mark all as read at the top right clears everything currently unread, in both columns.
What raises a notification
Notifications cover events across Socket, including:
A lead assigned to you
A billing plan ready to review or approve, and billing plan issues such as unlinked clients
A form response submitted
A client email address blocked, or reactivated after being blocked
An email failing to reach a client
An integration losing its connection, such as Xero
A possible duplicate found in Xama
A Direct Debit that could not be set up
Notifying additional email addresses
When an important event happens, for example a prospect signs a proposal, the team members directly involved are notified. Team-wide notifications let you nominate extra email addresses to be notified as well.
This might be the person who looks after billing, or a distribution list that reaches your onboarding team.
