What are Service Schedules?
A ‘Schedule of Services’ is a detailed document that outlines the services you’ll be providing to a client. It’s an important part of the Letter of Engagement, offering a comprehensive description of what’s included. In Socket, we refer to each service's Engagement Letter content as a 'Service Schedule', and the concept of a reusable one of these as a 'Service Schedule Template'.
The Service Schedules are automatically added to your client's Engagement Letter based on the services you’ve chosen for them, on their Proposal. Once you’ve set up your Service Schedule Templates up in Socket, putting together a new Proposal with an Engagement Letter is a breeze. You simply select the services the client needs, and the relevant Service Schedules will automatically appear in the Letter of Engagement.
Rather than managing separate pieces of text for each service (which can get a bit tricky!), you can handle everything in one place with Service Schedule Templates. These templates are linked to the services they apply to, making it much easier to keep everything consistent and up-to-date. If you make changes to a template, those updates are instantly applied wherever that template is used.
If You’ve Been Using “Custom” Text
If you’ve been using ‘Custom’ text in your Services, we’ve now moved that content into Service Schedule Templates for you. Each Service that had "Custom" text will now be a Service Schedule Template (see below). This helps keep everything neat and centralised, making it much easier to manage. Now you can review these and archive any you no longer need, or tidy up any duplicates.
We’ve also automatically linked each of these, to the correct Service, so they'll populate in your Letter of Engagement accordingly. You can see this in the Services & Pricing section, under the relevant Service.
We just ask that you take a quick look to make sure everything’s in the right place.
How to Set Up Service Schedules
There are two simple ways to set up and manage your Service Schedules in Socket:
1. From the Service Schedule Templates Section
On the left-hand menu, you’ll find the Service Schedule Template section. This is where you can manage all of your Service Schedules in one easy place.
Click ‘New’ to create a new Service Schedule Template. Add in a Template Title and then paste in the text for your Service Schedule and press save.
To update an existing template, simply click on it and make the changes you need. This is handy if you ever need to tweak your Service Schedule details.
Whenever you edit a template, all Services using that template will automatically use the latest version.
Link Templates to Services
After you’ve created or edited a template, head over to the Services & Pricing section. Select the service you want to link to your new template, then click ‘Edit Service’. Just make sure your pricing is in ‘Draft’ mode so you can make changes, or create a new version of it if not.
Choose the Service Schedule
Scroll down to the Letter of Engagement - Schedule of Services section, and pick your newly created or updated Service Schedule from the dropdown list.
Add the Service Schedule Section to your Letter of Engagement
Head to Document Templates and add a 'Add Schedule of Services'
It will then be populated with relevant Service Schedule
2. Directly from the Service Edit / Create Screen
If you’re in the middle of creating or editing a service, there’s an even quicker way! Scroll down the the section Letter of Engagement Linking, and click the little cog icon on the right-hand side, and you’ll be taken straight to the Service Schedule Templates.
Create and Link New Templates
From here, you can create a new Service Schedule Template without loosing any changes to the service you’re working on. Once you’ve created the template, just hit the refresh button next to the list of templates, and it will appear in the dropdown!
Select the Service Schedule
After refreshing, you can select the new Service Schedule from the dropdown list and link it to the service you’re working on.
Service Schedules makes it quick and easy to ensure everything stays accurate and up-to-date for your clients.
