The Custom Section Library holds reusable content blocks for your proposal overview: notes, headline numbers, team bios, images, tables and client stories. Build one once, then choose where it appears in each design template.
Finding the library
Go to Settings, then Content, and expand the Custom Section Library card. Everything you have built is listed here with its type underneath, and a pencil and bin icon on each row.
Adding a section
Select Add content section and choose a type:
Team Bio
Image
Rich Text
Case Study
Sub Row
Table
Every type starts with a Name, which is how the section is labelled in your library and in your templates rather than anything the client sees. A live preview sits on the right and updates as you type.
Team Bio
Pick the Team member from your practice list and their photo and details come across from their profile. Add their Role on this proposal, which is shown instead of their job title, and a Biography.
Case Study
Takes a Company name, an optional Subtitle such as the client's sector or how long they have been with you, and a Client logo. PNG with transparency works best, up to 2MB.
Then the story itself: a Headline result in one line, followed by where the client started, what you did, and what changed. A Client quote and its attribution are optional.
Select Save to add it to your library.
Editing a section
Select the pencil icon on any row. It opens with its content already filled in, alongside the same live preview, so you can change the wording, swap an image or update a quote.
Adding sections to a design template
A section in the library isn't on any proposal until you put it in a design template.
Go to Settings, then Design Templates. Select + New to create one, or select an existing template by its title. Scroll down to the Overview Layout card.
The sections already there
Overview Layout starts with Socket's own sections, each showing when it appears:
Banner Image, always first.
Introduction, always after the banner.
Video Introduction, shows when a video is set.
Meet the Team, shows when team members are selected.
Proposal Details, the client, approver and start date.
Testimonials, shows when testimonials are selected.
Logo Strip, shows when the strip has logos.
Banner Image and Introduction are fixed in place and carry a padlock rather than a drag handle. The rest can be dragged into whatever order you want, and none of them can be removed.
A section with a condition against it only appears on a proposal where that content exists, so a template with Testimonials in it won't show an empty block on a proposal you haven't chosen any for.
Adding yours
Select + Add content sections. A window opens listing your custom sections with a preview of each on the right. Tick the ones you want and select Add sections.
Drag them wherever they fit among the default sections. Unlike the defaults, your own sections carry an x icon to take them back out of the template.
Previewing the layout
Select Preview at the top right of the Overview Layout card. A Proposal overview preview window opens showing how the overview will look to a client, built from that template's saved settings.
Anything that depends on the individual proposal is described rather than filled in, so you are checking the layout and your own content rather than a real client's figures.
Reorder or add a section and select Preview again to see the change.
Comparing templates while building a proposal
You can also preview a design template from inside a proposal, before you commit to one.
On the first step of the proposal, find Quickstart Templates (optional) and select Edit Templates. In the Choose Templates window, open the Design Templates tab.
Hover over any template in the list and a Preview button appears. Select it to open Overview preview for that template, with its name in the header so you know which one you are looking at.
Close at the bottom right returns you to the list, so you can look at each template in turn before choosing. Select the one you want and Apply.
Checking it on a real proposal
Once the draft proposal exists, open Client Preview to see your custom sections in place, in the order you set them in the design template.
Change that order in the template later and it carries through to proposals built from it after that.
