AI lead summary reads the lead's own record and reports where it stands: what has happened, what needs you, and what to do next.
The summary runs per lead, on demand or automatically. It works only from what is already recorded in Socket, and nothing is sent to the client.
AI lead summary is included with the Leads add-on module.
Summary and research are different
Both sit on the lead and both are generated, but they read different things.
AI lead research looks outward, at Companies House and the prospect's website, and tells you about the business.
AI lead summary looks inward, at the activities, notes, timeline, details and files held on the lead, and tells you about the deal.
See AI Lead Research for the outward-looking one.
Generating a summary
Open the lead and find the Summary card, then select Generate summary.
Reading the summary
The summary is written as prose rather than a list. It covers the stage the lead has reached, what contact has been recorded against it, and what is outstanding.
Where a statement draws on a particular record, a reference chip follows it, so a claim can be traced back to what it came from rather than taken on trust.
The time the summary was generated is shown above it.
A lead with no history
A summary will still run on a lead that has just been created. It reports the absence rather than failing, noting that no contact activity or stated requirement has been recorded yet.
Files on the lead
The summary also reads files attached to the lead, such as a call transcript or a set of accounts. A PDF with selectable text or a plain text file is read and cited with a chip like any other record. Hover the chip to see the file's opening text and who uploaded it and when, or select View on page to go to it in the files panel. Images and spreadsheets are noted as being there, but their contents are not read. A scanned PDF with no text layer, or a password-protected one, is not read either, and the summary will not guess at what it contains.
Regenerating a summary
Select the refresh icon on the Summary card to generate a fresh summary. The new one replaces the previous one.
A summary reflects the record at the moment it ran. Unless automatic updates are switched on, it does not update on its own as activities and notes are added, so where a lead has moved on since it was last generated, run it again.
Keeping summaries up to date automatically
Switch on AI Summaries under Lead Settings and open leads keep their own summaries current. Make a change to a lead, such as adding a note, and about 20 seconds later the Summary card shows Updating... and the new summary replaces the old one without a reload. Several changes made close together are picked up in one refresh. If you make a change and come back to the lead later, the summary has already been refreshed. Leads marked lost are not refreshed.
Feedback
How is this agent doing? sits at the foot of the card, with thumbs up and thumbs down controls.
Collapsing the card
The chevron at the top right of the Summary card collapses and expands it.
