We've released a new version of Socket Engage with a refreshed library of engagement letters and service schedules. This guide explains what's new and what it means for you.
Already using Socket Engage? Don't worry. Your existing templates are completely unaffected. We haven't changed or removed anything in your account. You can carry on exactly as you are, and only explore the new version if and when you want to.
What's new
The engagement letters and service schedules in Socket Engage have been rewritten and expanded. The headline changes are:
A much bigger template library. When you create a new service schedule or document, you can now choose from a large library of pre-written templates covering a wide range of services, including Bookkeeping (and individual variants like Bank and Cash, Nominal Ledger, Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger), CIS, Audit, Payroll and many more. Each one is written to a consistent standard and acts as a starting point you can tailor to your practice.
Engagement letters and service schedules now work as a matched pair. The new service schedules are designed to slot neatly into the new engagement letters, so the final document your client receives reads as one coherent piece.
A clearer template structure. In your Practice Settings you'll find your templates organised into Document Templates (engagement letters), Service Schedules, Terms & Conditions, and Privacy Policy.
What changes for you
If you're an existing Socket Engage user, the only thing you'll notice is that when you go to add a new template, the library now offers the new versions. Your existing templates stay exactly as they are and continue to work as normal.
If you're setting up Socket Engage for the first time, you'll simply use the new library from the start.
One thing to be aware of: because all new templates are the new version, adding a new service schedule while your engagement letter is still an older version can lead to gaps in the final document. If you're adding new templates, we recommend updating your engagement letter to the new version too so everything matches. See Moving to the updated Socket Engage for how to do this.
Using the template library
To add a new template, go to Practice Settings and choose either Document Templates or Service Schedules, then click New. Search or scroll the library, select the template that matches the service, give it a title, and click Create.
Every template is a starting point only. Each practice is unique, with different operating procedures, client bases and legal requirements. It's your responsibility to review and tailor each template to suit your practice and your clients, and to seek legal advice if you're unsure about any part of it.
Once created, you can edit any section, add or remove content blocks, and adjust the dynamic tags just as you would with any Socket Engage template.
To speed setup up, you can also use Engage Quickstart, our AI tool that matches templates to the services in your pricing menu.
