Multi-signatory proposals let you send a proposal to more than one contact for sign-off when a client engagement involves multiple decision-makers.
This might be for a partnership, a company with joint directors, or any situation where more than one person needs to approve.
How multi-signatory proposals work
Their are two client 'roles' for multi-signatory proposals, these two roles sign the proposal sequentially. Once the primary contact has signed, Socket automatically notifies all secondary signatories that it is their turn:
The Primary Signatory: This contact receives the proposal first and goes through the full approval flow. Only one primary signatory can be added to a proposal. The primary signatory can:
Review services and fees
Select any Proposal Options or Extras
Decline the proposal
Sign the proposal
Secondary Signatories: Secondary signatories see a read-only view of what the primary selected and sign to confirm. Up to ten secondary signatories can be added to one proposal, and they all recieve the proposal at the same time. These contacts can:
Review services and fees selected by the primary signatory.
Decline the proposal
Sign the proposal
π Both your practice and the client can see a live signature count throughout, so no one needs to chase for an update.
When the final signature is collected, Socket sends a proposal accepted email to all signatories, with a PDF record of the signed proposal attached.
How to use it
1. Open a proposal and go to the Proposal Wizard.
β
2. On the General step, add your Primary contact as usual, and under the signatory section select 'Add secondary signatory'.
β
3. Type the name and email address of your secondary signatory and click 'Add' to save the details.
4. If you want to add additional secondary signatories, select 'Add secondary signatory' again and repeat the previous step. You can add up to ten secondary contacts to one proposal.
β
5. If needed, you can swap which contact acts as the primary approver at this step by clicking the arrow icon:
6. Complete the rest of the Proposal Wizard and send the proposal as normal.
What does the client receive?
Before primary signatory approval:
The primary approver receives the proposal and goes through the full approval flow: selecting any options or extras, reviewing services and fees, and signing.
β
The client will receive branded emails from your practice (Hint: set up your custom email domain so Socket emails come from your practice email domain)
Secondary signatories receive a heads-up email when the proposal is first sent, with view-only access, so they know it is coming before it is their turn.
β
After primary signatory approval:
The proposal shows a live signature count for both your practice and the client throughout the process. The proposal status moves from Pending to Awaiting Signatures once the primary approves.
Once the primary has signed, all secondary signatories automatically receive a ready-to-sign email. They see a read-only view of what the primary selected and sign to confirm.
β
Once all signatories have signed, the proposal moves to Won. A proposal accepted email goes out to everyone, with a PDF record of the signed proposal included.
If a signatory declines the proposal will move to Lost status. Once marked as 'Lost' you can revert the proposal to draft and make changes before resending.
Things to know
Secondary contacts do not need to be saved in Socket. Add any name and email address directly in the Proposal Wizard.
Secondary signatories cannot edit the proposal. They see a read-only view of what the primary approver selected and sign to confirm. Options and service selections are locked once the primary has signed.
Single-signatory proposals are completely unchanged. Multi-signatory is an opt-in part of the proposal flow. Existing proposals and your standard approval process are unaffected.
Notifications go to everyone. Both your practice and all signatories receive real-time updates as signatures are collected.
